When I think back to a year ago I was feeling frustrated and discouraged of my health and weight. I had tried to lose weight on my own over the years, but it was always a big struggle. Two years earlier I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer so I knew I needed to get healthier. My weight and health needed a major overhaul. I wanted to be a healthier mom and grandmother to my children and grandchildren.
When I saw the ad for the Total Makeover Challenge I was curious. That’s just what I needed, I thought. Once I was in the challenge, I decided to dedicate my whole effort fully into the challenge in order to get the full experience.
We started with 30 women. My initial goal was to make the top 15. When I did I was so happy I just kept going. I was seeing the changes in my body as time went on. The workout and healthy eating was paying off. When I made the top 5 I was ecstatic. By the time the fashion show rolled around I felt like a better version of me. Feeling good in my skin, my confidence, and my self esteem had grown leaps and bounds. I lost 42 pounds and 34.5 inches altogether. I was so surprised when I was announced winner for the Abbotsford Total Makeover Challenge.
It sometimes still feels like a dream. I have learned so much in the four months of the challenge. I’m so thankful for all the support I’ve received from my family, friends and to all the sponsors and board of the Shape your World Society. I also have decided to continue to support the Total Makeover Challenge by being the intern for the Chilliwack Total Makeover Challenge.
